Where
Do I Vote?
1 . First, you need to know what precinct
you live in …
Look on your current Voter Registration card to find your precinct number.
(Try to keep this card handy, as you will need it to vote!)
If you do not have your card available, there are several other options:
.
Find My Polling Place - This site, sponsored by the Texas
Secretary of State, is the BEST place to be sure you are registered
and in which Smith County voting precinct. Just enter the information
requested and write down the information. You'll need it later!
.
Red
Viewer Map - Until or unless
this precinct finder function on the above site is restored, we suggest
you look up your neighborhood precinct at the Red Viewer
site instead. It takes some time, but it is the
most accurate currently available on-line. (Here's how
to do it: Double-click your mouse in the East Texas area, then on Smith
County until it zooms to fill the screen. Then add local precinict boundaries
by clicking the button "Precincts." Once you identify your
neighborhood and keep double-clicking to zoom, the street names begin
to show up. This process took me quite a few zooms to find my street.
Be patient.)
·
Voter
Lookup - You may also wish to check
this site for information on your precinct and current candidates in
the election. (You can also use it to see individual primary voting
or to find info about voters in other counties in Texas.) Requires a
password.
. *
Computerized Locator- Enter your street address, city and zip code.
Your current federal and state elected representatives will be listed.
This site also has information on representative districts which may
be interesting to you. * This link was
altered by the Texas Legislature Online at some point during the re-re-districting
process and local precinct information has not been restored.
· County
Precinct Maps - Developed by the Smith County Elections
Office, these are excellent for precinct chairs and activists to use
for political work. Also on this site (on different tabs) are County
Commissioner precinct maps and Justice of the Peace/Constable precinct
maps.
· Contact the Smith County Democratic Party - We can usually
find a voter's precinct fairly quickly, given full name and address
information.

E-Mail Us OR Call 903-593-7061 for assistance.
2.
Next, you need to know where your precinct will vote …
Polling locations often change from one election to the next, either
because of site availability or because some precincts combine to vote
in a central location. Where you voted last time may not be where you
will vote the next time. It is your responsibility as a voter
to find out where you should vote.
The local
newspaper will publish a list prior to each election. However, you may
not have access to this list, or it may be incorrect. (It was published
incorrectly in November, 2004!) The Smith County Voter Registrar now
makes poll location available prior to elections on their website here.
(Click "Departments," then "Elections" to get to
the correct web page for information.)
You may
contact the Democratic Party any time by telephone (903-593-7061) for
help if you are not sure where to vote, or you can find that information
here:
