One Vote

How important is one vote?  The following facts may astound you:

In 1645, One Vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England.

In 1649, One Vote sent Charles I of England to the executioner.

In 1776, One Vote made English, not German, the American language.

In 1839, One Vote elected Marcus Merton the Governor of Massachusetts.

In 1845, One Vote brought Texas into the Union.

In 1868, One Vote saved President Andrew Johnson from impeachment.

In 1875, One Vote changed France from a monarchy to a republic.

In 1876, One Vote gave Rutherford B. Hayes the Presidency of the U.S.

In 1923, One vote gave Adolph Hitler leadership of the Nazi Party.

In 1941, One vote saved Selective Service only 12 weeks before Pearl Harbor.

In 1960, One Vote lost Richard Nixon the presidential election, and John F. Kennedy won it by fewer than One Vote per precinct in the U.S.

So, just how important is One Vote?  Your Vote?  The vote of someone you help to register?  The vote of someone who asks a question that you can answer?  The vote of someone who wants a yard sign?  The vote of someone who doesn’t know where to vote or can’t get to the polls?

Stop for a moment and think about all the other ways that a single vote matters … and then you will clearly see why your work as a volunteer matters.  If you can help, there’s a job to do.
